Thanks, and You're Welcome

  • Dec. 16th, 2007 at 7:37 PM
This is from one of the military guys I've met in my recent travels, and I just thought it was so touching, I had to gank it. Even when you click through (twice) the words are hard to read so I've written them out again next to the photo (and no, not behind a cut). And yeah, I've even set this public (as a 2nd public entry for non-friends). It's that relevant to people to stop and think of this, especially when everyone's in such a "family" and "holiday" get together mood--think of the sacrifice being made by those who are NOT with their families or "celebrating" so that YOU can!

The link through to Citizen Reign's song "Fight for Me" is all my doing. This text also reminds me of the very touching "Remember Me" dedication.

For all the free people that still protest, you're welcome
We protect you and you are protected by the best.
Your voice is strong & loud, but who will fight for you?

We are your fathers, brothers and sons,
wearing the boots and carrying the guns.
We are the ones that leave all we own,
to make sure your future is carved in stone.

We are the ones who fight and die.
We Might not be able to save the world,
well, at least we try.
We walked the paths to where we are at
and want no choice other than that.
So when you rally your group to complain,
take a look in the back of your brain.
In order for that flag you love to fly,
wars must be fought,
young men must die.

We came here to fight for the ones we hold dear.
If that's not respected, we'd rather stay here.
So please stop yelling and put down your signs,
and pray for those behind enemy lines.

When the conflict is over and all is well,
be thankful we chose to go through hell.

Friends Only Journal

  • Nov. 24th, 2007 at 7:53 PM
Sorry to have to say it has become necessary to make this a friends-only journal for privacy reasons. Doing this now is somewhat of a closing the barn door after the fire move, but so be it. My privacy has been violated (again) so I've decided to put a stop to it. Again. This happened once before some of you may know.

*sigh*

Anyone on my flist can read all posts and comment at will. If you are not on my flist, but you actually know me, just drop me a note and ask me to friend you.

+ + +

Update: Comments Disabled

Extreme times require extreme measures, but bear in mind this post (and its comments) are all that will remain public) from this point forward. Though I appreciate the sentiments, m'lady (don't want to go namingnames and draw attention to you), from here forward I need to disallow comments on this thread. Apparently, LJ deletes comments already in existence when you switch the setting to "disable." Sorry.  Email me if you want to offer condolences. And thank you for sentiments already received.

I know if I have to call in the Marines, I have several on whom to call and that's a warm, fuzzy feeling  (( Not calling yet [info]wcg stay calm *g*  I know you just never "liked" this going all the way back to before I'd even left Maryland. Thank you for never saying I told you so. even though you did and were right. Again. I should learn to listen to a Marine's "gut" about imminent danger. ))

Recall, my loyal sheepdogs, I am a sheep. Hear me baaaaaaa

But maybe it's time to check those magazines anyway? Hey, gotta love the Boy Scouts, too! *tee hee*
